    • A heater/cooler unit of an automotive air conditioning system for use in a vehicle is disclosed. The unit includes a casing defining an air flow passage for flow of air. The casing includes an enlarged lower portion and a reduced upper portion, and an air inlet opening and an air outlet opening communicating with the air flow passage. The unit also includes an evaporator in the air flow passage. The unit also includes a heater in the air flow passage with an air flow space being formed between the heater and the evaporator. The unit also includes a ventilation opening formed in the casing. The unit also includes a pair of heat openings formed in the casing, one on each side wall above the heater. The unit also includes a pair of heat ducts. The overall lateral size of the unit can be minimized.

    • The present invention relates to a climatizing arrangement and to a method for controlling a climatizing arrangement, preferably air-conditioning equipment, for adjusting the temperature in the interior (7) of a vehicle, with individual regulation of the temperature of the air to different outlets (5, 6). The climatizing arrangement consists of an air-conducting system (2, 3, 4), a fan (1) for generating an air flow and a heat exchanger (8) for heating the air in cold weather. In warm weather the heat exchanger (8), in this case switched off, is instead utilized to provide flow resistance. The partial air flow to each outlet (5, 6) is then caused to pass through the heat exchanger or to bypass the heat exchanger (8), so that the flow rate is reduced in each air flow. Individual exhaust rates, and thus subjective sense of temperature, is thus obtained for each outlet (5, 6).

The air conditioner further comprises a heater core arranged at a downstream of the evaporator to pass the conditioned air therethrough, and an air-mix door for use in adjusting air flow to be passed through the heater core. The undercooling heat exchanger is disposed at the downstream of the evaporator within the air duct, and is supplied with the conditioned air when the conditioned air is sent to the heater core when the air-mix door is opened.

    • An air conditioner for a vehicle has a housing (1) accommodating an evaporator (2) and a heater (3) which are connected to a compressor and to an engine cooling system, respectively, and a fan (7) and controlled gates (9, 13) of hot and cool air ducts (8, 12). The evaporator 2 and heater (3) are in the form of a stack of alternating heat exchange plates having passages 4, 5 for a heat carrier. An auxiliary controlled gate (14) of the hot air duct (8) is provided between the fan (7) and the stack of the heat exchange plates for movement between two positions. The gate shuts off a part of the surface of the stack of the heat exchange plates in the first position, and in the second position, the gate uncovers the entire surface of the stack of the heat exchange plates. The invention may be used in self-propelled vehicles.

    • An air conditioner system for a vehicle includes a rear-seat blower unit and a rear-seat blower unit which are connected only by at least two connecting passages. Thus the air conditioner system is simple in structure and hence easy to construct. Further, any existing front-seat air conditioner unit can be used without reconstruction. The temperature of the blown-off air is automatically adjusted in accordance with the difference between the temperature preset by the temperature setting means and the temperature detected by the rear-seat mode sensor so that the temperature in the rear-seat part of the passenger compartment can be controlled at passenger's desire, independently of the temperature of the front-seat part.

    • A heating and ventilation apparatus for motor vehicles has a fan, a hot air channel passing over a heat exchanger, a cold air bypass, a mixing chamber, controllable valves, and ventilation or air outlet jets, wherein air streams with different temperatures are conducted in channels adjacent to each other and an opening closable by a valve flap is provided between the adjacent channels. The valve flap is controllable in dependence on the flow rate prevailing in a first channel, in such a way that the valve flap is opened to an increasing extent with increasing flow rate, so that as the flow rate increases in the first channel, air can overflow from a second channel into the first channel to an increasing extent. This allows an automatic increase in temperature of the ventilation air on setting the heating, and avoids flow of cold air back into the mixing chamber.
