摘要： An ankle-supporting shoe comprising a sole member having a mid-sole attached to the top surface thereof. Attached to the upper surface of the mid-sole and a toe portion of the top surface of the sole member is a brace member including a base portion formed to suit the shape of the wearer's foot and lateral and medial struts extending upwardly from the base portion. A boot upper is attached to the sole member in a manner wherein the lateral strut extends upwardly within a lateral side panel portion of the boot upper, with the medial strut extending upwardly within a medial side panel portion of the boot upper. An inflatable bladder member is selectively insertable into vamp and ankle portions of the boot upper which is sized and configured to extend about the midfoot ankle and heel of the wearer's foot when the foot is inserted into the boot upper. Lower and intermediate strap members are engaged to the boot upper which, when tightened, cause the lateral and medial struts to assume particular orientations relative the ankle.

摘要： In an orthopedic support pad with semi-permanent relief zones, an airtight bladder is filled with a material which retains its shape when air is evacuated from the bladder during the formation process. The afflicted areas of an appendage are temporarily covered with padding and the support pad is then conformed to the wearer's particular anatomy. When the padding is subsequently removed, areas of pressure relief for the afflicted areas are maintained in the support pad.

摘要： An ankle brace for limiting flexing and pivoting movement of the ankle joint. The brace includes a soft resilient sock and a pair of brace panels positioned and retained over the sock on opposite sides of the ankle and foot. Each panel is formed by a pair of brace sections hinged together by a floating pivot axis hinge. The hinge includes pair of juxtaposed hinge plates adapted to pivot and slide with respect to each other. One of the plates is secured to the ankle section of the brace and the other is secured to the foot section of the brace. Each plate defines pivot face, with a concave groove defined in each face. The concave grooves are normally positioned at right angles with respect to each other when the pivot faces are juxtaposed. A single pivot bearing ball is positioned between the opposed pivot faces and retained in the concave grooves. A spring resiliently biases the hinge plates together against the ball pivot bearing. A second spring biases the plates for relative sliding movement. The pivot bearing ball and grooves provide a floating pivot axis for hinge rotation and sliding movement of the hinge plates, and thereby the brace sections, relative to each other.

At least one side of insert 6, and a facing inner surface of the shoe upper material coming into contact therewith, has a surface which provides that, at least between these two inner surfaces coming into contact, there is sufficient friction to cause insert 6 to be retained in place during the wearing of the shoe.

摘要： A high-top athletic or leisure shoe is provided, in which the top portion of the shoe leg is made of padded material which includes a piece of reinforcing material on the outer surface of the shoe at substantially the height of the outer malleolus. At least one two-segment tightening strip is provided extending from the reinforced zone. One segment of the tightening strip rises diagonally from the reinforced zone along the outer surface of the shoe leg to near the upper end of the latter at the back of the shoe, and continues substantially horizontally along the upper end of the inner surface of the shoe leg above the inner malleolus. A second segment rises diagonally from the reinforced zone, and extends across the frontal lacing area of the shoe toward the inner surface of the shoe leg. A provision is made for joining the two segments of the strip over the front and inner surface of the shoe leg so as to adjustably fasten the strip in position with a desired degree of tightness.

Typically, the increase in forces is achieved by placing a movable insert in the shoe which is connected with the sensor via a cable. In a simplified form, the sensor is constructed so as to tighten a portion of the shoe against the foot to increase tightness of the fit.
