    • A first dog clutch member is coupled with a rotation transmitting member rotatably mounted on a power transmission shaft with a relative rotation clearance θ. A second dog clutch member is slidably mounted on the power transmission shaft to be engageable/disengageable with/from the first dog clutch member. A damper spring is interposed between the rotation transmitting member and the first dog clutch member. First dog teeth and second dog teeth, which are engaged/disengaged with/from each other by an axial displacement of the second dog clutch member, are formed in the first dog clutch member and the second dog clutch member, respectively. A chamfer is made in each end portion of the respective first dog teeth and each end portion of the respective second dog teeth, which are opposed to each other, so as to guide the second dog teeth to a position to engage with the first dog teeth.

    • A transmission is provided in which gear trains for multiple shift stages are provided between a countershaft and a first main shaft and second main shaft running coaxially and relatively rotatably through the first main shaft so that the gear trains can be alternatively established, wherein a plurality of odd number stage gear trains (G1, G3, G5) are provided between the second main shaft (27) and the countershaft (28) so that the first speed gear train (G1) is disposed on the opposite side to the first and second clutches (37, 38), an end part of the second main shaft (27) on the first speed gear train (G1) side is rotatably supported on an engine main body via a main shaft side ball bearing (31) having a larger diameter than an outer diameter of a first speed drive gear (89) provided integrally with the second main shaft (27), and an outer race (31a) of the main shaft side ball bearing (31) is fixed to the engine main body via a fixing plate (95) engaging with an outer peripheral part of the outer race (31a). This enables the transmission to be made compact in a direction along the axis of the first and second main shafts.

    • A transmission apparatus for a bicycle is capable of performing a transmission operation even while operating or running by the inertia of the bicycle. The transmission apparatus T for a bicycle includes a driving sprocket member rotationally driven by a crankshaft; a multi-stage driven sprocket member drivingly connected to the output shaft cooperatively engaged and rotated with the rear wheel; a chain applied over the driving sprocket member and the driven sprocket member; and a transmission changing-over mechanism M2 for positioning the chain among a plurality of transmission sprockets. The driven sprocket member is integrally arranged to always be rotated, and the one-way clutch for transmitting a rotation of the crankshaft to the driving sprocket member while in its normal rotating direction is arranged in the power transmitting path extending from the crankshaft to the driving sprocket member.
