    • This invention relates to a type of cold cathode electron gun. On the base a cold cathode made of cold cathode material is mounted. Above the cold cathode, there is a grid gate electrode. Above the gate electrode, there is a focusing electrode with round aperture. The above electrodes are insulated from each other by installing on the insulating base through supports. A grid screening electrode can be added above the focusing electrode. The screening electrode is fastened to the base by the support for screening electrode. The use of screening electrode depends on the application occasions. In small device such as light element, the screen electrode is needed, while in lighting source, the screening electron may not be necessary. The cold electron gun described in this invention has simple structure, high performance. It can be used in electron source, cold cathode lighting source and lighting element. It also can be used in occasions with similar requirements.

    • A threshold voltage extraction circuit. The circuit includes a first current mirror having a first transistor and a second transistor. A holding circuit has an output adapted to control a current though the first current mirror by operating to maintain substantially equal the voltages at a first input thereof and at a second input thereof. A third, MOS transistor having a source and a gate, and a resistor circuit, together adapted to generate a voltage which is a multiple of a source-gate threshold voltage of the third transistor, are coupled to the second transistor and to the first input of the holding circuit. A fourth, MOS transistor coupled to the first transistor and to the second input of the subtracting circuit through a second resistor circuit is adapted to generate a threshold voltage across the second resistor circuit, by the operation of the holding circuit. A second current mirror coupled to the first current mirror is adapted to cause a current to flow through a third resistor circuit that corresponds to the current through the first current mirror to thereby provide an output voltage corresponding to the threshold voltage.

    • An optical phase characteristic measuring apparatus includes a harmonic generator for generating a harmonic wave from a fundamental wave of output light from a light source; a beam splitter for splitting a fundamental-wave component of the output light and a harmonic component; a sample disposed in one of optical paths along which light beams from the beam splitter propagate; a unit that is composed of a signal generator and a mirror and is adapted to modulate the length of one of the optical paths; an optical mixer for mixing the light beams containing the fundamental-wave component and the harmonic component; an optical separator for separating light output from the optical mixer into a fundamental-wave component and a harmonic component; a first optical detector for detecting a fundamental-wave component of an output from the optical separator; a second optical detector for detecting a harmonic component of the output from the optical separator; and a phase detector for detecting the phase difference between AC signals output from the two optical detectors. An optical amplitude/phase characteristic measuring apparatus has a similar structure but includes two light sources, a sum-frequency generator, and other related circuits.
