The utensil comprises (a) an elongate handle, (b) a spoon-shaped head attached to the handle, and (c) a movable plate. The spoon-shaped head has a cut out portion at its forward end. The cut out portion provides at least two tines. The plate is capable of being moved between two positions. In one position, the plate substantially covers the cut out portion of the head and the utensil forms a spoon. In the other position, the cut out portion of the head is substantially uncovered and the utensil forms a fork.

    • Fully cured, intact, solid castings of bis(allyl carbonate) resin, e.g., diethylene glycol bis(allyl carbonate), are prepared by polymerizing the resin with between about 0.75 and about 1.50 parts, per hundred parts of resin, of a monoperoxycarbonate, e.g., tertiarybutylperoxy isopropyl carbonate. An adhesion reducing amount, e.g., between about 25 and about 75 parts, per million parts of resin, of a mold release agent is incorporated into the liquid resin monomer to avoid cracking of the casting. Use of a mold release agent is not required when the resin is prepolymerized to about 15-20 percent allylic utilization.

    • Organic peroxydicarbonates represented by the following graphic formula are described. ##STR1## In the formula, R and R' are each selected from an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group of from 5 to 7 carbon atoms, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl substituted cycloalkyl group, or participate in a cycloalkyl group having from 5 to 7 carbon atoms, provided that when one of R and R' is cycloalkyl, the other is alkyl. The peroxydicarbonates are useful as initiators for the polymerization or copolymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers or the cross-linking of unsaturated polyester resins. The organic peroxydicarbonates can be used in combination with commercially available peroxydicarbonates, particularly those having a shorter half-life.

    • A single leg mooring terminal is described, of the type which includes a buoy assembly extending from the sea floor to the sea surface to moor a tanker vessel, and a separate fluid conduit extending at an upward incline to the vessel for carrying oil to or from it, and wherein the buoy assembly includes a tilt joint and both the buoy assembly and hose structure must rotate without limit about the same vertical axis to follow drifting of the vessel about the installation. The vertical rotation joint which joins the rotatable upper portion of the buoy assembly to the stationary lower portion thereof, is located below the tilt joint, and a fluid swivel of the conduit is joined to a sidewardly-extending pipe which extends sidewardly at a level above the vertical rotation joint but below the top of the tilt joint.

    • A background component of reporter ion signals is determined by fitting a distribution function. A plurality of samples that include a protein labeled with a plurality of isobaric reporter ions is analyzed at a plurality of different times using a mass spectrometer, producing a plurality of mass spectra for the plurality of isobaric reporter ions. A cumulative distribution is calculated for an inverse coefficient of differential expression of the plurality of mass spectra using a processor. A Pearson Type IV distribution shifted by a constant value is fitted to the cumulative distribution and the constant value is solved for using the processor. A background component for each spectrum of the plurality of mass spectra is calculated from the constant value, a calculated coefficient of differential expression for each spectrum, and an average reporter ion signal value for each spectrum using the processor.
