摘要： An improved personal flotation device is disclosed. The personal flotation device comprises a shirt with sleeves, a torso flotation pad attached to the shirt and positioned around a user's torso, and two flotation sleeves attached to the shirt's sleeves on a user's arms. The torso flotation pad comprises a front flotation pad which is raised above the midriff area of the user and two graduated side pads which are wrapped around a user's torso. The raised position of the front flotation pad keeps a user's center of buoyancy above the user's center of gravity, raising the user higher up out of the water and preventing the user from flipping over into the water. The flotation sleeves are positioned high on a user's arms to further increase a user's freeboard while permitting freedom of movement.

摘要： A flotation-hydration system to be worn by a user, particularly in a water borne environment, includes a vest assembly dimensioned to at least partially surround the user's upper torso while donned by the user in an operative manner. The vest assembly comprises a plurality of panels securely attached to one another, and a flotation assembly comprising at least one flotation member having a buoyant material of construction disposed in one of the panels of the vest assembly. A hydration support assembly is disposed substantially within the vest assembly and includes a chamber support unit, wherein the chamber support unit is dimensioned and configured to receive a hydration chamber in a supported relation therein. A dispensing tube is routed from the hydration chamber to the front of the vest assembly, for ready access by the user, through a dispensing tube retention channel.

Either or both of at least two modes are provided for fluid passage or “venting.” One fluid passage mode is in directions parallel to an inner side (i.e. “lateral”), with fluid passages being defined by structures such as projections or within various three-dimensional permeable materials, such as spacer fabric. Another fluid passage mode is through an aperture in a buoyant intermediate layer. Depending upon the particular design, a blend or combination of these two modes is achieved.
