The modular structural section includes at least one beam and a load bearing deck preferably formed of a polymer matrix composite material. 摘要： A cover for a wooden deck structure which protects people walking on the deck structure from splinters. In one embodiment, the cover is in the form of a thin walled, U-shaped channel member which fits over one board of the deck structure. In doing so, the central section of the channel member overlies the top of the board while the sides of the channel member extend downwardly along the sides of the boards. The channel member is made of a synthetic extrudable material, such as vinyl, and is attached to the board by gluing.In a second embodiment, the cover is made from a plurality of elongated, flat strips haivng a tongue on one side and a matching groove on its other side. The strips are positioned on top of the deck strucuture so that the tongue and grooves of adjacent strips interlock and are attached to the deck structure by glue. In addition, the longitudinal axes of the strips can be transverse with respect to the axes of the boards in the deck structure.

摘要： To join together at least two light dividing walls, resisting tensile forces and possibly curved, recourse is had to a plurality of fastenings (4,5) each extending radially in at least one direction from a pivot (6), the pivots of these fastenings being stacked axially along the axis L corresponding to the line of intersection of the mean surfaces of the dividing walls and the contiguous fastenings of the stack being oriented so that they extend alternately along said mean surfaces. The fastenings thus joined together at the level of the pivots form discontinuous wall portions whose roots are mutually imbricated, to which wall portions the dividing walls are then butt-jointed, themselves formed by parallel skins bonded to these wall portions and in which the intermediate space is filled in with foam.

The portable tween deck may be readily assembled and disassembled within a barge or the like to provide, when desired, a tween deck for carrying automobiles or the like.

摘要： A marine deck member and the process for forming the same are provided. The marine deck member comprises a sandwich-type composite panel made by a compression molding process. In such a process, the panel is made by subjecting a heated stack of layers of material to cold pressing in a mold. The cellular core has a 2-D array of cells, with end faces open to the respective layers or skins. The surface traction of this type of composite panel can be enhanced for marine deck applications by controlled debossing, or embossing, of the first skin while it cools in the compression mold. The debossing effect can be affected by applying pressurized gas, e.g., pressurized air, onto the outer surface of the first skin while in the compression mold. The embossing can be affected by applying vacuum pressure on the outer surface of the first skin while in the compression mold.
