    • Under direction of a machine controller, an endless chain conveyor is incrementally passed by a plurality of loader heads. The loader heads receive a series of components taped on a reel supplied substrate, sever individual taped components from the supply, and load the individual taped components onto clip carriers of the endless conveyor, on command, in a preferred sequence. The clip carrier mounted components are then indexed past a cutter assembly for trimming the lengths of the leads and removing the substrate, and a positioning disc assembly for positioning the components in the clip carriers before being passed to a rotary transfer assembly. The rotary transfer assembly removes individual components from the conveyor and rotates to an unload position above a linear loader, which laterally transfers the components from the rotary transfer to an insert head assembly. At the insert head assembly, the components are oriented and inserted by their leads into the holes of a printed circuit board for clinching by a clinch mechanism. Any components still left on the conveyor after it passes the rotary transfer assembly are removed by a chain unloader.

    • A pull clamp is provided for attaching to sheet metal flanges for transmission of pulling forces to the sheet metal, particularly in collision repair operations. The clamp comprises a pair of opposed clamping jaws adapted to be tightened against each other by bolts and have at one end opposite clamping surfaces for engagement with the sheet metal flange, the jaws furthermore enclosing a connecting member for coupling to a pulling means, said member including a conical wedge element for exerting a spreading-apart action of the inner surfaces of the jaws and hence through the bolts increase the clamping force between the clamping surfaces of the jaws in proportion to the pull of the pulling means. According to the invention the wedge element is constituted by an annular body with conical end surfaces and a control opening therethrough accommodating a pin which centrally extends transversely through both jaws with great radial clearance in holes in said jaws and outwardly of the latter carrying a pivotable yoke for coupling to the pulling means.

    • A fly-tying vise has a vise portion for gripping a fly-tying hook supported by a vertical support post above a clamp portion for gripping the free edge of a tabletop. A jaw assembly of the vise portion has a pair of hook-clamping jaws opened and closed by a thumb screw. The jaw assembly cooperates with a spring-biased detent to allow rotation of the jaws without changing their closure setting through application of a combined axial and torsional pressure to the thumb screw. The clamp portion includes a sleeve slidably adjustable along the support post and a pair of clamping arms, one fixed to and the other slidable along the sleeve to adjust for different tabletop thicknesses. The slidable arm carries a thumb-screw-operated bearing disc which creates a bind between the slidable arm and sleeve to hold such arm in an adjusted position when the disc and fixed arm bear against opposed surfaces of a tabletop.

    • A clamping attachment for tensile pulling devices has a pair of clamping members designed to be arranged side by side, the members each being designed to provide one of a pair of facing jaws. The clamping members and the jaws are arranged to allow the jaws to grasp a member between them. The jaws are each provided with bores designed to be aligned when they are grasping a member between them and a bolt is provided designed to extend through the aligned bores, the bolt having a head on one end and a nut on the other. Each of the bores at their outwardly facing ends is enlarged to provide a surface defining a cavity at the corresponding entrance to the bores. Bearing members are provided adjacent each and of the bolt designed to contact the respective surfaces of the cavities and to bear thereon as the nut is tightened. The surfaces are shaped to allow the bearing members to move thereover as the bolt moves over a predetermined angular range relative to the clamping member and the bores are made sufficiently larger than the bolt to allow movement over such predetermined angular range. A member is provided for allowing tensile pull on the clamp on the side of the bolt remote from said jaws, the means being designed, upon the exertion of the tensile pull, to tend to spread the jaws at the end thereof remote from said clamping surfaces, whereby the jaws tend to pivot about the bearing members.

    • A cam pin plunger clamp has a body mountable on a support having a first longitudinal bore of a polygonal cross section and a second intersecting bore defining internal handle guide walls.
