    • A sealing unit for sealing a gap between a pair of surfaces, the apparatus comprising a nozzle for injecting sealant into the gap; two or more rollers; an endless track which passes round the rollers; and a curing device for directing energy into the gap to initiate cure of the sealant. The sealing unit is moved along the length of the gap. A sealant is injected into the gap from the nozzle and the track is rotated around the rollers as they are moved along the length of the gap. The track is pressed onto the first and second surfaces so the sealant in the gap is constrained by the track to lie substantially flush with the first and second surfaces. Energy is directed into the sealant with the curing device, the curing energy initiating cure of the sealant. The sealing unit is moved along the length of the gap at a rate such that the sealant becomes sufficiently cured when it is in contact with the track so that the track can be peeled away from the sealant as the track rotates round the second roller.

    • A manufactured composite insulating panel comprises an external sheet having an outer face and an inner face, an internal sheet having an outer face and an inner face, and an insulating body between the inner face of the external sheet and the inner face of the internal sheet. The external sheet has a portion that extends beyond the internal sheet and the insulating body to define an overlap part for overlapping with part of an adjacent panel, on assembly and a seal is applied to the inner face of the overlap part of the external sheet. The panel has a side overlap part to which a side seal is factory applied. An end seal is also factory applied to an end overlap part of the panel.

    • A gasket comprising a first discrete component and a second discrete component, wherein the first and second components extend along the length of the gasket. The second component is arranged ranged relative to the first component so as to separate the first component at least from one of the two sealing surfaces. The first component is relatively hard in at least the thickness direction of the gasket and preferably incompressible and the second component is relatively soft in at least the thickness direction of the gasket and compressible. When the gasket is compressed between two flanges, there is a limited region of high compression, because the first component increases the pressure by which the second component is compressed between the surfaces of the flanges. This yields a high leak tightness of the sealing at a relatively low force.

    • An electronic device may have structures such as housing structures, display structures and other device structures that form gaps when assembled. To prevent intrusion of moisture and other environmental contaminants, the gaps may be filled using gap sealing material. The gap sealing material may be a liquid polymer that is applied to the gap in a way that creates an excess protruding portion. Light-based processing techniques and application of solvent may be used to remove excess material. A sealing material such as an adhesive may be applied to gaps to forming a sealing structure. A material may be applied to the adhesive sealing material to cause the sealing material to expand and fill the gap. An undersized gasket may be placed in a gap. The gasket may include materials such as polymer that expands upon application of moisture.
