    • A guard for a swing connection comprised of a hook which hooks through the eye of a connector member includes a pair of rigid shells which are slotted at their edges to provide clearance for the hook and the connector member so that the shells can be clamped to opposite sides of the hook and engaged together edge to edge so as to form an enclosure which completely surrounds the hook and its connection to the connector member. The guard prevents finger injuries due to the pinch point at the connection between the hook and the connector member. It also maintains the relative position of the hook and connector member so that the connector member cannot become disengaged accidentally from the hook. In addition, the guard may be shaped and its exterior surface treated so that the guard adds a decorative element to the swing connection.

    • The accident prevention guard is intended for homokinetic--as well as wide-angle--joints which have an end fork, an inner fork and a central body. The guard is made up of a shell structure for the protection of the central body, held through two annular supports by the central body and able to freely rotate with respect thereto. It is completed with an end cone for the shaft guard, suitable for completing the overlap on the side of the inner fork. The shell structure is made up of two parts, matched to each other along a plane transverse to the axis of the central body; each of the parts is made to rest on and engage with the body of the homokinetic wide-angle joint so as to maintain--as sole freedom degree--the rotation about the axis of the same body.

    • A padded safety hinge construction for use in infant playyards and the like wherein the fasteners which hold the padding of the hinge in place also function as the pivot pins about which the playyard legs pivot. The inwardly protruding extremities of the hinge mechanism and the connecting fasteners are completely covered with padding so that an infant within the interior of the playyard enclosure is safeguarded from contacting any part of the mechanical structure.     • A shield for a universal joint having two yokes is disclosed. Each one of a pair of opposed bell elements is journaled upon the yokes and has a hemispherically shaped outer surface. Each one of a pair of frusto-spherically shaped shoes slidably overlaps one of the bell elements so that the shoes are restrained against axial movement but can rotate relative to the bell elements. A boot spans the shoes with each shoe rotatably disposed between its associated bell element and the boot. The shoes float upon the bell elements within the boot to fully enclose the universal joint as the joint is articulated. The small range of motion of the shield makes it especially suited to operate at wide angles in compact spaces.
