    • A customer premises installation has a wireless multimedia center (WMC) for reception from one or more signal sources and for distribution of segments of signals from signal sources through the wireless multimedia center to a plurality of end units, in which the signals include video signals and broadband data. The wireless multimedia center receives all the signals and distributes segments of said signals via a transmitter. The video signals are transmitted by orthogonal frequency division multiplexing in which all signals are added together and summed as an orthogonal array having dimensions of time, frequency and amplitude, to transmit spread spectrum multiplexed signals. Each pulse has sufficiently long individual pulse widths to defeat multi-path, reflection and absorption phase induced losses. The video signals are distributed to one or more end units. The end units communicate with the wireless multimedia center, controlling which segments of which signals are distributed to each end unit.

    • The invention relates to a method for setting up a mobile radio connection to a mobile station (MS) in a cellular mobile radio network. According to said method, each cell of the mobile radio network can be identified by an identification character and a plurality of cells form a localisation area of the mobile radio network. In order to localise the mobile station (MS) inside a localisation area, paging is regularly carried out from a switching centre (MSC) in pre-definable time intervals, and a first mobile radio connection to the mobile station (MS) is set up by the paging, whereupon a paging response message is generated from the mobile station (MS) and transmitted over the existing first radio connection. When the paging response message is received, said first mobile radio connection to the mobile station (MS) from the mobile switching centre (MSC) is maintained for a pre-determinable time span, said first mobile radio connection between the mobile switching centre (MSC) and the mobile station (MS) being used to set up a mobile terminating call (MTC) when a call setup from or to the mobile station (MS) is triggered within the time span from the reception of the paging response message.

    • A data transmission method transmits data to a group of receiving communication devices in a communication system comprising at least one cellular network. The method includes defining, by an application server situated beyond a cellular network, a group of receiving communication devices in the cellular network, the application server having no visibility to locations of receiving devices in the cellular network. The method also includes receiving, in a broadcast/multicast network entity configured to provide broadcast and multicast services in the cellular network, data to be transmitted from the application server to the group. The method also includes transmitting the data from the broadcast/multicast network entity to the group using broadcast and/or multicast transmission. Furthermore, a network entity in a cellular network and a communication system are provided configured to implement the method.

    • Systems and methods for announcing audio calling identification information associated with an incoming communications signal from a calling party to a wireless communications device are disclosed. The invention makes use of a translatable telephone number associated with a wireless communications device of a subscribing customer. The translatable telephone number includes a wireless telephone number of a wireless communications device and also includes an access telephone number that is associated with an access address serviced by a communications network. The wireless communications device is typically serviced by a separate wireless communications network that connects with the communications network over a communications link. The calling party dials the access telephone number and the incoming communications signal is detected, decoded, and processed to generate an audio communication by the communications network. The communications network also maps the access address with the wireless telephone number and presents the audio calling identification information to the wireless communications network.

    • A mobility management analysis architecture for call management. Systems and methods are provided for routing of a landline-mobile and mobile-mobile call using a switching network (landline or mobile originating) to serve effectively as the “GMSC/tandem” switching layer for the mobile network, as well as for mobile-mobile calls using an originating switch. When a landline switch issues an local number portability (LNP) query, the response to the query can be intercepted by a preliminary mobility management platform that determines a location routing number (LRN) for a visited mobile switching center (V-MSC) to which a destination mobile handset is currently attached. The LRN for that V-MSC is returned in the LNP response to the switch, which then routes the call to the serving V-MSC based on the LRN. The V-MSC then performs the GMSC (gateway mobile switching center) functionality, for example, for that particular call.

    • Systems and methods for alleviating the signaling system number 7 (SS7) network by routing WNP data queries for a number's Service Provider ID (SPID) from the SS7 network to a database that resides within the IP network and processed therein for many applications, including inter-carrier SMS and MMS. The WNP data is maintained by the carrier internally, and the query is an IP query for a Service Provider ID (SPID). The system includes an intelligent routing server connected to a messaging service center. The intelligent routing server determines: (1) if the originator subscriber is a valid user of a particular service; and (2) whether the remote receiver is one of its own carrier subscribers. If it is determined that the remote receiver is one of the carriers own subscriber's service provider, then the intelligent routing server routes the SMS to an appropriate messaging service center for delivery of the message to the remote receiver. If the intelligent routing server determines that the remote receiver is not one of its own subscriber's service provider, then the intelligent routing server performs a query to a WNP database to determine a four digit service provider ID for the destination remote receiver from the WNP database for the remote receiver, and uses the WNP data information to route the message over the intelligent routing server to the remote receiver.
