    • The present invention discloses a gain-boosted N-path SC bandpass filter (GB-BPF) with a number of sought features. It is based on a transconductance amplifier (Gm) with an N-path SC branch as its feedback network, offering 1) double RF filtering at the input and output of the Gm in one step; 2) customized passband gain and bandwidth with input-impedance match, and 3) reduced physical capacitance thanks to the loop gain offered by Gm. All have been examined using a RLC model of the SC branch before applying the linear periodically time-variant (LPTV) analysis to derive the R, L and C expressions and analytically study the harmonic selectivity, harmonic folding and noise. The latter reveals that: 1) the noise due to the switches is notched at the output, allowing smaller switches to save the LO power; and 2) the noises due to the source resistance and Gm are narrowband at the output, reducing the folded noise during harmonic mixing.

    • A variable bandwidth filter includes a first filter branch in parallel with a second filter branch. The first filter branch includes a first resistance in series with an input and a first output, and N parallel paths across the first output. The second filter branch includes a second resistance in series with the input and a second output, and N parallel paths across the second output. A clock tunes the first and second filter branches to a center frequency. A combiner produces a difference signal including a difference between the output of the first filter branch and the output of the second filter branch to provide a filter output having an adjustable bandwidth with reference to a center frequency. The bandwidth is adjusted by changing a value of at least one resistor or at least one capacitor in one or more of the first filter branch or the second filter branch.

The first and second pass-bands are centered about the local oscillator frequency.

    • A synchronous filter for use as a narrow band, band-pass filter comprises a matching circuit receiving a signal to be filtered and supplying that signal to an output connected to filtering paths with switched capacitances connected in parallel. This filter also includes switches for switching the filtering paths, a summing circuit with inputs respectively connected to outputs of the filtering paths and a switch control circuit. Each filtering path has two identical filtering channels, each with a capacitance, connected to the switches. The switching control signals are symmetrical for the two channels of each path and staggered by T/2N. The sampling periods or cycles of the two channels of one path are equal to T/2.
