    • A rotor core has permanent magnets. Magnetic flux of the permanent magnet of an even-numbered rotor magnetic pole part is guided in an axial direction by an axial magnetic path member. Magnetic flux of the permanent magnet of an odd-numbered rotor magnetic pole part is guided into a soft magnetic inner cylindrical part. The axial end faces of the inner cylindrical part and the axial magnetic path member protrude from the rotor core in the axial direction and face a stationary magnetic path member with a small gap therebetween. The amount of magnetic flux of the magnet, which the permanent magnet applies to a stator core is adjusted by an excitation current of an excitation coil wound on the stationary magnetic path member.

    • A linear VR motor or actuator having band coils is provided. The VR actuator includes a first core dimensioned as either a single ‘E’ or a double ‘E’. Each center protruding bar may be capped with a permanent magnet made of a Ferro-magnetic material or ceramic magnetic material for preloading the actuator, which is advantageous from controllability point of view, and enables the actuator to counteract gravitational load without nominal current through the wires. The first core is also formed of a Ferro magnetic material. The spaces between the protruding bars are filled with band coils arranged parallel to the protruding bars and electrically conductive. An I-core of Ferro-magnetic material is positioned perpendicular to the protruding bars. A current induced in the band coils controllably amplifies or negates a magnetic flux produced by the permanent magnets. Different shapes (e.g. circular shapes) for the I-core (e.g. being part of a circular axis) and the opposite part of the E-core may be used.

    • Permanent magnet machines including doubly salient machines having one or more permanent magnets located at least partly and preferably entirely within the stator teeth, thereby avoiding weakening of the stator structure while reducing acoustic noise. The magnets may be located in only a subset of the stator teeth, thereby lowering magnet material and manufacturing costs, and all such magnets may have north poles directed toward an interior of the machine, resulting in reduced cogging and negative torques with improved torque densities. The permanent magnets may also extend within the stator teeth on an angle or diagonal, thereby allowing use of magnets which are wider than the teeth themselves to produce greater flux. Further, a magnetizing device having a single coil may be used to simultaneously magnetize all the stator magnets with a common polarity.

    • A rotating electric machine whereof the rotor includes a magnetic core provided with radial teeth, uniformly distributed at its periphery, annular magnets arranged on either side of the core axial ends and magnetic end flanges pressing the annular magnets against the core, magnetic bars linking the end flanges together, housed in the spaces between the radial teeth, additional magnets being interposed between each of the bars and at least the side walls of the core radial teeth defining the spaces.
