摘要： The present invention relates to various embodiments of a system and method for separating polymer from a solvent. In one embodiment a system for separating polymer from a solvent comprises an extrusion apparatus includes a hollow member having a first end portion, a second end portion, and a feed port between the first end portion and the second end portion. The extrusion apparatus includes a back flash vent port disposed upstream of the feed port and a forward flash vent port disposed downstream of the feed port. The extrusion apparatus further includes a vent insert located at the forward flash vent port, a screw disposed inside the hollow member, and an internal superheating section disposed between the feed port and the downstream vent opening of the hollow member such that the length of the internal superheating section is greater than about four times the diameter, 4D, of the hollow member.

摘要： The present invention is directed generally to processes for making fiber reinforced polypropylene resins including at least 25 wt % polypropylene based polymer, from 5 to 60 wt % organic fiber, and from 0 to 60 wt % inorganic filler. The process includes extrusion compounding the polypropylene based polymer, the organic fiber, and the inorganic filler to form a fiber reinforced polypropylene resin, which is subsequently molded to form an article with a flexural modulus of at least 300,000 psi, that exhibits ductility during instrumented impact testing (15 mph, −29° C., 25 lbs). Twin screw extruder compounding processes where the organic fiber is continuously fed to the extruder hopper by unwinding from one or more spools, and uniformly dispersed in the fiber reinforced polypropylene resin by twin screws having a combination of conveying and kneading elements are also disclosed.

摘要： A method of separating a polymer-solvent mixture is described wherein a polymer-solvent mixture is heated prior to its introduction into an extruder comprising an upstream vent and/or a side feeder vent to allow flash evaporation of the solvent, and downstream vents for removal of remaining solvent. The one-step method is highly efficient having very high throughput rates while at the same time providing a polymer product containing low levels of residual solvent.

The method includes conveying a base resin to an aperture in a housing of a toner extruder, the housing surrounding a conveyor, providing a lead-in gap at a feed port end of the conveyor, inhibiting adhesion of melted resin to walls of the aperture, adding chemical initiator to a toner extruder, mixing the base resin and the chemical initiator within the extruder to form the mixed resin, and conveying the mixed resin within the extruder to an extruding die. Inhibiting adhesion can include repelling melted base resin into a flow of base resin, inhibiting heat transfer from the extruder to the base resin at the aperture by, for example, spacing at least one of the housing and the conveyor from the resin at the aperture.

摘要： In various embodiments, a device for producing a high density compact livestock feed from a loose granular material according to various embodiment can include a source for supplying a loose granular material to be treated and moving the treated material through a series of successive treatment zones. Rotatable screws are provided within an extruder to compress and transport the treated material a die. The treated material is pressed through the die while a two-dimensional cross-section compression is applied to the treated material. In various embodiments, the high density compact livestock feed is produced having a high protein content, a high fat content, high shipping durability, high quality, and high nutritional value, without the addition of additives.

摘要： A polyarylene sulfide-derived resin composition which has flowability optimal for insert molding and which can impart superior high- and low-temperature impact properties to a molded body, and an insert-molded body using the resin composition. The resin composition includes a polyarylene sulfide resin having carboxylic terminal groups, an olefin-derived copolymer, glass fibers and calcium carbonate. The weight-average molecular weight of the polyarylene sulfide resin is 15,000-40,000; as copolymerization components, the olefin-derived copolymer includes α-olefins, glycidyl esters of α,β-unsaturated acids, and acrylic esters, and the content of the copolymerization component derived from the glycidyl esters in the resin composition is 0.2-0.6 mass %. Further, the fiber diameter of the glass fibers is 9-13 μm, the average particle diameter of the calcium carbonate is 10-50 μm, and the total content of glass fibers and the calcium carbonate is 45-55 mass % of the resin composition.
