    • New methods for phase contrast imaging in transmission electron microscopy use the imaging electron beam itself to prepare a hole-free thin film for use as an effective phase plate, in some cases eliminating the need for ex-situ fabrication of a hole and reducing requirements for the precision of the ZPP hardware. The electron optical properties of the ZPP hardware are modified primarily in two ways: by boring a hole using the electron beam; and/or by modifying the electro-optical properties by charging induced by the primary beam. Furthermore a method where the sample is focused by a lens downstream from the ZPP hardware is disclosed. A method for transferring a back focal plane of the objective lens to a selected area aperture plane and any plane conjugated with the back focal plane of the objective lens is also provided.

    • There is provided a method of forming a silicon dioxide film, which comprises repeating a step of depositing a silicon layer on a silicon substrate to form a silicon dioxide film of a predetermined thickness, and which makes it possible to suitably select the surface roughness of the silicon dioxide film that is formed and the rate of growth of the silicon film that is deposited. According to the method of forming the silicon dioxide film that is proposed above, it comprises a step of depositing any one of polysilicon, epitaxial silicon or amorphous silicon on the silicon substrate or on the silicon dioxide film formed on the silicon substrate by the thermal oxidation treatment to form a silicon film, and a step of thermally oxidizing the silicon film to convert it into a silicon dioxide film, the step of deposition and the step of thermal oxidation being repeated a plural number of times.

    • An object of the present invention is to provide a content management apparatus which prevents illegal duplication of content, and simplifies user's backuping and restoring the content. The content management apparatus according to the present invention manages content stored in a portable medium, and includes: a content storage unit which stores content; a backup unit which (i) duplicates the content stored in the first portable medium into the content storage unit and (ii) associates the content with a medium identifier of the first portable medium, and stores the associated information into the management table inside the content management apparatus, in the case where the content stored in the first portable medium is requested to be backuped into the content storage unit; a restore unit which (i) duplicates the content duplicated in the content storage unit into the second portable medium and (ii) replaces the medium identifier of the first portable medium stored in the management table with a medium identifier of the second portable medium, in the case where the content duplicated in the content storage unit is requested to be restored into the second portable medium; and a management table processing unit which transmits, to a reproduction apparatus, reproduction judgment information which is based on the management table, for judging a permission to reproduce the content, the reproduction apparatus attempting to reproduce the content stored in the portable medium.
