    • A shifting mechanism shifts at least one of a sheet accommodating portion and feeding portion, thereby changing a position of the feeding portion relative to sheets. A pressure changing mechanism changes pressure between first and second separating portions. A contact force controlling portion controls the shifting mechanism to provide a first contact force when the feeding portion starts a feeding operation, and controls the shifting mechanism, at a first timing, to reduce the contact force from the first contact force to a second contact force. A pressure controlling portion controls the pressure changing mechanism to provide a first pressure between the first and second separating portions when the feeding portion starts the feeding operation, and controls the pressure changing mechanism, at a second timing, to reduce the pressure from the first pressure to a second pressure while nipping the separated sheet between the first and second separating portions.

    • A sheet-feeding cassette includes: a stacking member including first engaging sections and second engaging sections provided at intervals which are smaller than those of the first engaging sections; and a regulatory member regulating the position of sheets, the regulatory member including an operation section that is operated at the time of movement of the regulatory member and is capable of being displaced, a first engaged section that is capable of engaging with the first engaging sections and is elastically deformable, and a second engaged section that is capable of engaging with the second engaging sections. The second engaged section is displaced in a direction so as to be disengaged from the second engaging sections in accordance with displacement of the operation section, and the first engaged section is elastically deformed as a result of being interlocked with the second engaged section according to displacement of the operation section.

    • A sheet supply device including: a device main body; a storage cassette having a stacking portion on which a sheet is loaded; a lifting mechanism that lifts up the stacking portion by using driving power supplied from a driving source; a delivery unit that is disposed above the stacking portion and performs a delivering operation in a contact state with the sheet on the stacking portion lifted up by the lifting mechanism, thereby delivering the sheet to a downstream side in a conveying direction; a control unit that controls the delivering operation of the delivery unit; and a detecting unit that detects whether the sheet is loaded on the stacking portion at a predetermine detecting position above the stacking portion; wherein, when the detecting unit detects that the sheet is in existence, the control unit starts the delivering operation of the delivery unit.
