    • A color cathode ray tube including a generally rectangular shadow mask with at least a long side, a short side and a corner, and having a curved apertured portion with a multiplicity of electron-transmissive apertures, a curved imperforate portion surrounding and integral with the apertured portion and a skirt portion bent back from a periphery of the curved imperforate portion. A generally rectangular support frame is provided for suspending the shadow mask by spot welding the skirt portion thereto within a panel portion of the color cathode ray tube. The skirt portion is provided with a plurality of slits extending in a direction of a height of the skirt portion and a plurality of embossments extending in the direction of the height of the skirt portion in one of a long side and a short side of the skirt portion. The plurality of slits and the plurality of embossments are juxtaposed around a circumference of the skirt portion with a majority of the plurality of slits in the one of the long side and the short side of the skirt portion being unbridged slits or with the plurality of slits extending a distance no greater than 70% of the height of the skirt portion from a rear end of the skirt portion on an opposite side thereof from the panel portion.

    • A single-pole relay switch capable of effective arc extinction irrespective of the current flowing directions in which the device is connected in a circuit. The switch has a housing and two sets of contacts located in the housing, each set being composed of a fixed contact and a movable contact. A contact carrier is provided to have first and second movable arms which extend commonly from a bridge and are provided respectively with the two movable contacts. An actuator applies a driving force to move the contact carrier between an ON-position of holding the movable contacts simultaneously in contact respectively with the fixed contacts, and an OFF-position of keeping the movable contacts at respective opening gaps from the fixed contacts. The housing includes a casing which is divided into first and second chambers respectively for receiving the contact sets, each of the first and second chambers being surrounded by a dielectric wall. Permanent magnet are disposed around the casing to stretch the individual arcs in opposing directions to each other and towards the dielectric walls of the first and second chambers, respectively. Thus, the individual arcs can be stretched individually within the separate chambers, i.e., in an isolated condition. Therefore, the individual arcs can be free from merging even when the current flows in such a direction as to drive the arcs in the approaching direction.

    • A polyurethane foam for a sealant is disclosed which is produced from a composition prepared by compounding reaction mixture comprising a polyisocyanate ingredient and a polyol ingredient with a given amount by weight of an ozone inhibitor ingredient. A sealant of a predetermined shape is obtained from the foam. The polyol ingredient may be one ordinarily used for producing soft polyurethane foams, but especially preferably comprises a polyester-polyether polyol having both an ester segment and an ether segment in the molecular chain. The foam has excellent resistance to ozone deterioration and hence retains a sufficient air permeability required of a sealant for practical use. Further, the foam suffers little decrease in tensile strength from the initial value because it also has excellent resistance to deterioration by moisture and heat, i.e., high hydrolytic stability. A door for a conditioner is also described which comprises a substrate having provided on at least one surface thereof a sealant layer which comprises the polyurethane foam for sealant.

    • Control arrangements for the induction system of an internal combustion engine having a control valve in the induction passage which is moveable between an opened position wherein the flow into the combustion chamber is unrestricted and in a first direction and in closed position wherein the flow into the combustion chamber is restricted to accelerate the velocity of the charge entering the combustion chamber and change its direction from the first direction. Optimum positions are set for the control valve in response to engine speed and engine load but the control valve is held in a closed position when the engine speed is below a predetermined speed and regardless of the load and is also held in an opened position when the engine speed is above a second predetermined speed and regardless of load. Various routines are shown for positioning the control valve to accommodate catalytic convertor warm up, sudden acceleration or deceleration conditions and other transient conditions. In addition, the spark timing for the engine is also controlled in response to the operation of the control valve.
