    • A room temperature-curable fluorosilicone rubber composition is disclosed, which is capable of giving a cured silicone rubber having excellent resistance against organic solvents and petroleums withhigh curability despite the high fluorine content which may cause steric hindfrance against the curing reaction due to the bulkiness of the fluorine-containing substituent groups. Different from conventional fluorine-containing diorganopolysiloxanes, in which the fluorine-containing substituent groups are bonded to the silicon atoms at random positions throughout the molecule, several silicon atoms from each of the molecular chain ends of the diorganopolysiloxane as the principal ingredient of the inventive composition are free from fluorine-containing substituent groups so that the crosslinking reaction with the silanolic hydroxy groups bonded to the terminal silicon atoms is not disturbed by the fluorine-containing groups in the vicinity of the terminal silanol groups.

    • A curable organopolysiloxane composition comprising a vinyl-containing organopolysiloxane, organohydrogenpolysiloxane and platinum catalyst is proposed which is cured into a gel-like material suitable as a potting and encapsulating agent for protecting, for example, electronic components from mechanical shocks and adverse influence of the ambient atmosphere. Different from conventional similar compositions, the gelled material from the inventive composition little suffers from the problem of bleeding of oily materials contained therein on the surface. This unique advantage is obtained by using, in place of the conventional vinyl-containing organopolysiloxanes in which the vinyl groups are bonded to the silicon atoms at random position in the molecular chain, a combination of two vinyl-containing organopolysiloxanes having a specified viscosity in a limited proportion, of which one has two and only two vinyl groups in a molecular each bonded to one of the silicon atoms at the molecular chain ends and the other has one and only one vinyl group in a molecule bonded to one of the silicon atoms at the molecular chain ends alone. The composition may further contain a low-viscosity dimethylpolysiloxane so that the silicone gel can be imparted with softness and adhesiveness without increasing the amount of bleeding of the oily constituents.

    • The fluorine-substituted organopolysiloxane as the principal ingredient of the inventive silicone rubber composition has vinyl groups to serve as the cross-linking points at the molecular chain terminals while at least the penultimate siloxane unit or the silicon atom adjacent to the terminal silicon atom has no fluorine-substituted hydrocarbon group bonded to the silicon atom. Being freed from the steric hindrance due to the bulky fluorine-substituted hydrocarbon group bonded to the adjacent silicon atom, the vinyl group bonded to the terminal silicon atom can pertain to the cross-linking reaction much easier than otherwise so that the silicone rubber composition of the invention containing an organic peroxide or a combination of an organohydrogenpolysiloxane and a platinum catalyst as a curing agent can be rapidly cured to give a cured silicone rubber article having excellent resistance against oils and organic solvents as well as mechanical properties.
