    • A charge balancing modulation system for digitizing the output of a variable impedance sensor utilizes synchronous excitation of the input sensor and AC coupling of the analog input signal. The modulation system also implements correlated double sampling to provide low noise and highly accurate analog-to-digital conversions. In one embodiment, the modulation system includes an excitation source for providing a switched current to the input sensor and generating an input voltage step in response, and an integrator including an input capacitor, an amplifier and an accumulation capacitor. The input capacitor AC couples the analog input signal to the integrator. The integrator is controlled by switches operating in complementary state for enabling correlated double sampling operation or enabling data dependent charge accumulation operation. The modulation system generates an output data stream exhibiting a ones density proportional to the magnitude of the average input voltage step.

    • To program a set of non-volatile storage elements, a set of programming pulses are applied to the control gates (or other terminals) of the non-volatile storage elements. The programming pulses have a constant pulse width and increasing magnitudes until a maximum voltage is reached. At that point, the magnitude of the programming pulses stops increasing and the programming pulses are applied in a manner to provide varying time duration of the programming signal between verification operations. In one embodiment, for example, after the pulses reach the maximum magnitude the pulse widths are increased. In another embodiment, after the pulses reach the maximum magnitude multiple program pulses are applied between verification operations.

    • The present invention discloses a corrugated settling cup and a multi-cup uniform flux gas anchor, which belong to oilfield gas-liquid separation devices. The external profile of the cup body of the corrugated settling cup rises in a corrugated shape along an axial direction of the corrugated settling cup, which facilitates rapid aggregation and rise of gas. The multi-cup uniform flux gas anchor is comprised of a plurality of the corrugated settling cups, and further includes a central pipe, a plurality of settling cup protectors and a well-flushing valve, wherein the plurality of settling cup protectors are slipped onto the central pipe in clearance fit and the plurality of the corrugated settling cups are slipped onto the central pipe in clearance fit between every two settling cup protectors, a plurality of liquid inlet holes are located evenly on the central pipe at a position close to an inner bottom of each corrugated settling cup, and a lower portion of the central pipe is connected to the well-flushing valve. With the plurality of the corrugated settling cups, the gas anchor divides a gas-liquid mixture into a number of portions, and the external profile rising in a corrugated shape allows the separated gas to rapidly aggregate and rise up, thereby achieving the object of performing effective gas-liquid separation, increasing pump efficiency and oil production, saving energy and reducing consumption.

    • Degradation of non-volatile storage elements is reduced by adaptively adjusting erase-verify levels and program-verify levels. The number of erase pulses, or the highest erase pulse amplitude, needed to complete an erase operation is determined. When the number, or amplitude, reaches a limit, the erase-verify level is increased. As the erase-verify level is increased, the number of required erase pulses decreases since the erase operation can be completed more easily. An accelerating increase in the degradation is thus avoided. One or more program-verify levels can also be increased in concert with changes in the erase-verify level. The one or more program-verify levels can increase by the same increment as the erase-verify level to maintain a constant threshold voltage window between the erased state and a programmed state, or by a different increment. Implementations with binary or multi-level storage elements are provided.
