摘要： A method of cooling an electric induction furnace for melting and holding a reactive metal or alloy is provided where the electric induction furnace has an upper furnace vessel and an induction coil in a modular inductor furnace is positioned below the upper furnace vessel with a melt-containing vessel positioned inside the induction coil with a gap between the outside surface of the melt-containing vessel and the inside surface of the induction coil that is used to circulate a cooling fluid for cooling the melt-containing vessel to inhibit leakage of the reactive metal or alloy melt from the melt-containing vessel. The melt-containing vessel can be integrated with a cooling system for cooling the melt-containing vessel. Modularity of the melt-containing vessel, induction coil and cooling system facilitates servicing of the modular inductor furnace without disassembly of the entire electric induction furnace.

摘要： The present invention relates to an electric channel inductor assembly. A nonremovable, hollow and nonmagnetic channel mold is used to form the one or more flow channels of the electric channel inductor assembly for electromagnetic circulation of a molten metal composition. A heated fluid medium is circulated in the hollow interior of the channel mold after the mold is situated in the inductor assembly to heat treat the refractory surrounding the exterior walls of the mold. After heat treatment a liquid is supplied to the hollow interior of the mold to chemically dissolve the channel mold prior to circulation of the molten metal composition.

摘要： A method is provided for the detection of melt adjacent to the exterior of a bushing in an induction channel furnace. An electrically conductive mesh is disposed around the exterior surface of the bushing facing a refractory that separates the bushing from a channel in which molten metal (melt) flows. The mesh is connected to a grounded voltage source so that when an electrically conductive melt at ground potential in the channel breaches the refractory and penetrates the electrically conductive mesh an electrical circuit is completed through the melt and the grounded voltage source.

An electromagnetically shielded inductor assembly can be formed from the openable induction coil and an electromagnetically shielded enclosure into which the coil can be inserted. 摘要： A stopper rod positioning and control apparatus is provided for controlling the flow of a molten metal out of a bottom nozzle in a metal reservoir. The stopper rod can be aligned with the nozzle's opening by selectively rotating a pair of roller (ring) bearings that are centerline offset from each other along a first axis around which one end of an extended structural arm can pivot where the opposing end of the arm retains the stopper rod along a second axis parallel to the first axis. When the appropriate relative positions of the pair of roller bearings are located for a nozzle-centered stopper rod, the second axial position of the stopper rod is fixed by retaining the appropriate relative positions with a brake mechanism. In a dual nozzle bottom pour reservoir of molten metal a separate stopper rod positioning and control apparatus is provided for each of the two nozzles while a dual nozzle assembly may be utilized to facilitate replacement of a worn nozzle or alter the distances between the centers of the two nozzles.
