    • An apparatus for burying cables and pipes in soil includes a support structure adapted for movement across a surface of the soil. A water jetting machine is provided for producing a source of pressurized water. At least two jetting arms are in fluid communication with the source of pressurized water. The jetting arms have vertical adjustment structure for varying at least the vertical position of each jetting arm relative to the support structure so as to adjust for varying soil conditions. A method for burying cables and pipes in soil is also disclosed.

    • A fluid assisted wedging and compacting device for the installation of underground cable that includes a blade with a cutting edge, two cutting faces a toe, a shoe, a cable feed tube, a pair of deflectors, a pair of grooves and a plurality of high pressure water jet nozzles. The blade is designed so that the deflectors and grooves are positioned in a vertical orientation on the lower half of the cutting faces of the blade. During use, the deflectors on the cutting faces deflect soil creating a soil free zone preventing blockage of the nozzles and allowing the water pressure from the nozzles to effectively aid the blade in cutting through the soil.

    • A trencher plow for laying pipe such as drainage pipe which includes in combination an auger angled downwardly toward a plow which follows, both mounted in a superstructure and being arranged to be cooperatively raised and to set the grade and depth of cut by the plow determinable by sensing the grade setting signal of a laser unit located in the field of cut. The auger is provided with cutting lobes distributed about its teeth which facilitate cutting and throwing soil to the sides of a trench being dug in advance of the plow which finalizes shaping of the trench for deposition of pipe into the trench.

    • An erosion fence installation attachment for ditchers and trenchers that is short in length and articulated to pivot in pitch and yaw so as to permit the attachment to follow a ditcher through gullies over mounds and around arcs. The attachment is provided with a barrier material roll unwind, a resilient guide that guides the barrier material into a ditch formed by the ditcher so that the barrier material is pressed against the sides and bottom of the ditch to form an open channel, a first ditch fill disk that pushes fill material into the ditch and into the channel formed in the barrier material, a second ditch fill disk that pushes fill material from the opposite side of the ditch and onto and over the barrier material on that side of the ditch to form a wrap around the fill material deposited by the first fill disk so as to form an elongate anchoring pouch filled with fill material along the bottom of the ditch. A stake driven along one side the above ground portion of the barrier material will penetrate at least two layers of the barrier material further securing the anchor in place. To form a barrier fence, the barrier material is secured to the stake by conventional means.
