    • A method for manufacturing a charge control agent comprising steps of: an initiative chelating step by reacting with a monoazo compound represented by the following chemical formula [1] (in the chemical formula [1], —Ar1— and —Ar2— are aromatic groups) and a metal chelating agent to prepare an azo-type metal complex salt intermediate; a subsequent ion-exchanging step by reacting with the azo-type metal complex salt intermediate and an ammonium counter ion forming agent including an inorganic ammonium salt and aqueous ammonia to prepare an azo-type metal complex salt having an ammonium ion of a counter ion represented by the following chemical formula [2] (in the chemical formula [2], —Ar1— and —Ar2— are the same as the chemical formula [1]; M is a trivalent metal; B+ is a cation except an ammonium ion; n is from 0.70 to 1.00).
