    • An image signal is produced by adding output signals from arrays of photoelectric transducer elements of adjacent two of a plurality of image sensors. Output signals from all of the image sensors are combined into an image signal representative of image information along one main scanning line. One of the output signals is gradually increased from an actual level thereof to a predetermined offset level in an interval during which the output signals start being added to each other. The other of the output signals is gradually reduced from the predetermined offset level to an actual level thereof in an interval during which the output signals stop being added to each other, whereby the output signals are smoothly combined with each other.

    • An image is accurately recorded by a light beam on a PS plate wound on a drum which is rotating at a constant speed. A rotary encoder detects information of a recording position in a main scanning direction by the light beam that is emitted from an optical unit to the PS plate. Based on the detected information, a PLL circuit of a recording synchronizing signal generating unit generates an original clock. Pulses of the original clock are counted by a decimating counter, which outputs a decimating instruction to decimate a pulse from the original clock each time the count reaches a preset count. Based on the decimating instruction, a pulse is decimated from the original clock, and a decimated clock is frequency-divided at a fixed frequency-dividing ratio by a frequency divider, which outputs a pixel clock for recording the image. Since the frequency of the pixel clock is varied by decimating the original clock based on the preset count, the image can accurately be recorded on the PS plate by determining in advance the preset count depending on the positional relationship between the PS plate and the optical unit.

The decimal-part corrective line quantities are interpolated in real-time by a hardware arrangement from preceding image data and presently read image data, using line buffer memories. The integer-part corrective line quantities are changed in addresses when they are stored as a file in a hard disk or the like, thus providing image data which are equalized in reading positions.

    • An electrostatic ejection type ink jet head according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: first drive electrodes that are respectively provided for individual electrodes and are arranged closer to an insulating substrate side than an ink flow path; and a second drive electrode that is provided commonly among all of the individual electrodes and is arranged closer to a head substrate side than the first drive electrodes. At the time of recording of an image, ink ejection/non-ejection is controlled by biasing the second drive electrode to a predetermined voltage level having the same polarity as a fine particle component contained in ink and switching the first drive electrodes between a high-impedance state and a ground level in accordance with image data.
