    • Articulated fitting for seats having an adjustable backrest, in particular motor vehicle seats. The articulated fitting arranged on each longitudinal side of a seat has a stationary articulated part associated with the seat part and a swivelable articulated part associated with the backrest, these articulated parts being connected with one another via a swivel axle. The position of the two articulated parts relative to one another is determined by an adjusting and fixing device constructed as a gear unit. The swivel axle has an eccentric portion for supporting one articulated part and the swivel axle of each articulated fitting has a central receptacle serving to connect with a transmission rod so as to be fixed with respect to rotation relative thereto, which transmission rod couples the two articulated fittings of a seat with one another. In order to eliminate faulty assembly by means of determining visually whether or not the angular positions of the articulated parts of the two articulated fittings conform to one another, these articulated parts being connectable with the backrest, the transmission rod and the recess of the swivel axle which receives the transmission rod so as to be fixed with respect to rotation relative thereto have a profile cross section in the shape of a polygonal or toothed circumference having a missing corner or tooth, as the case may be, at a location on the circumference, this location being reduced to the core cross section of the transmission rod so that the transmission rod may be inserted into the recess of the swivel axle after a complete revolution of 360 degrees.

    • Articulated fitting for seats having an adjustable backrest, in particular motor vehicle seats. The articulated fitting has an articulated part which is stationary with respect to the seat part and a swivelable articulated part associated with the backrest, these articulated parts being connected with one another via a swivel axle. The position of the two articulated parts relative to one another is determined by an adjusting and fixing device constructed as a gear unit. The swivel axle has an eccentric portion which is formed by two wedge segments which embrace a driver of the swivel axle, by a driver arm engaging between the narrow sides of the wedge segments, by an energy accumulator which presses apart the wide sides of the wedge segments and possibly by a centering segment arranged adjacent to the latter. The swivel axle has a central receptacle serving to connect with a transmission rod so as to be fixed with respect to rotation relative thereto. In order to achieve a reduction in structural component parts and an angular movability between the swivel axles of the articulated fittings on both sides and the transmission rod so as to compensate for alignment defects, the driver is constructed as a bushing which is connected with the driver arm integrated in the driver and with a cover disk covering the outer side of the articulated region and has a torque-transmitting receptacle for the transmission rod, this receptacle being constructed as a conical bore hole.

    • A fitting for a vehicle seat has a first fitting part and a second fitting part. The fitting parts can be rotated relative to one another about an axis. A toothed ring is formed on one of the fitting parts, and guide segments for guiding bolts are formed on the other of the fitting parts. A rotatably mounted eccentric acts on the radially displaceable bolt which then interacts with the toothed ring in order to lock the fitting. A spring arrangement acts on the eccentric and is arranged in a central receptacle in the second fitting part. The second fitting part has a guide part having the guides and a cover for covering the spring arrangement, wherein the guide part and the cover are formed separately and are connected to one another.

    • A locking mechanism has a lower member secured to a seat base, and an upper member that can rotate relative to the lower member and is secured to a seat back. A control element is capable of being rotated with a bar. A spring biases the control element toward a first configuration in which the control element drives a locking element radially away from the bar so that the locking element restricts rotation of the upper member relative to the lower member. The bar is capable of being rotated to a second configuration, and the control element rotates with the bar so that the locking element is capable of traveling radially toward the bar during the second configuration. A drive mechanism rotates with the bar and drives the locking element radially toward the bar during the second configuration, so that rotation of the upper member relative to the lower member is allowed. A transmission element is positioned between the control element and the bar. The transmission element has a first flange proximate the outer side of the upper member and a second flange proximate the outer side of the lower member, and the flanges restrict movement of the upper and lower members away from one another so that the transmission element functions as an axial safety device.
