    • PURPOSE: A method for multiplexing a transfer path of a packet network-based network element is provided to ensure a reliable communication even if one packet network is failed by multiplexing transfer path of a control message. CONSTITUTION: An application layer of a network element X commands an MHA layer to initialize a multiple transfer path setup with a network element Y by using a multiple transfer path setup request primitive(S51). The MHA layer of the network element X requests a multiple transfer path connection by transferring its multiple transfer addresses to an address previously defined with the network element Y(S52). The MHA layer of the network element X receives a multiple transfer address through an MHA setup response message for a multiple transfer path connection from an MHA layer of the network element Y, thereby initializing a multiple transfer path A passing through a communication network A between the network element A and the network element Y and a multiple transfer path B passing through a communication network B(S53). One multiple transfer path is set as a main transfer path(S54). The MHA layer of the network element X transfers a control message to the network element Y, and periodically or randomly checks a connection state between the multiple transfer paths A and B to check whether the main transfer path is failed(S55). If the main transfer path is failed, a substitute multiple transfer path is used as a main transfer path(S56).
