    • PURPOSE: A circuit for driving a semiconductor laser is provided to accurately perform the signal detection at the receiving end by lowering the level of the optical signal due to the bias current. CONSTITUTION: A circuit for driving a semiconductor laser includes a semiconductor laser(1), a bias current supplying unit(2) and a modulation current supplying unit(3). The bias current supplying unit supplies the bias current to the semiconductor laser. The modulation current supplying unit supplies the modulation current to the semiconductor laser based on the inputted modulation signal. The bias current supplying unit supplies the bias current during the supply of the modulation current and stops the supply of the bias current during the stop period of the modulation current.
