    • A method for preparing a polyalkylsilsesquioxane microparticle, and a polyalkylsilsesquioxane microparticle prepared by the method are provided to improve water repellency and to lower hygroscopicity during storage. A method for preparing a polyalkylsilsesquioxane microparticle comprises the steps of hydrolyzing an alkyltrialkoxysilane represented by R-Si-(OR^1)3 to prepare an alkylsilanetriol represented by R-Si-(OH)3 or its partial hydrolyzate; polycondensing the alkylsilanetriol or its partial hydrolyzate to prepare a polyalkylsilsesquioxane microparticle having a silanol group on the surface; and adding an alkoxytrialkylsilane represented by R^2O-Si-(R^3)3 to the polyalkylsilsesquioxane microparticle to end-cap the silanol group into an alkyl group, wherein R and R^3 are a non-hydrolytic group and are a C1-C20 alkyl group, a C1-C20 alkyl group having a (meth)acryloyloxy group or an epoxy group, a C2-C20 alkenyl group, a C6-C20 aryl group or a C7-C20 aralkyl group; and R^1 and R^2 are a hydrolytic group and a C1-C6 alkyl group.
