    • PURPOSE: A steering column system for obtaining the safety space at a collision of a vehicle is provided to minimize injury of the passenger in the narrow place, and to rescue the passenger quickly and safely by enlarging the space between the steering column and the seat at the collision. CONSTITUTION: A collision signal is decided at a collision of a vehicle(S101), and a steering column is tilted up in generating the collision signal of the vehicle(S102). A steering column tilt-up switch is detected to be turned on or off in not generating the collision signal of the vehicle(S103). The steering column is tilted up in turning on the steering column tilt-up switch(S104). A steering column tilt-down switch is detected to be turned on or off(S105), and the steering column is tilted down in turning on the steering column tilt-down switch(S106). The control unit moves the driver's seat backward and pops the steering column downward in tilting up and down the steering column.
