    • A 3D image display apparatus and a method thereof are provided to scan a left-eye image and a right-eye image alternately in the display of each image frame and open and close the left eye and right eye of shutter glasses synchronizing with the scanning of the images, thereby enabling a user to feel a 3D image. A 3D(Three-Dimensional) image display apparatus comprises a scanning display device and a shutter device(160). The scanning display device scans a one-dimensional linear image in a direction perpendicular to the one-dimensional linear image and displays a left-eye image and a right-eye image of a two-dimensional image. The shutter device opens a left-eye portion when the left-eye image is displayed and opens a right-eye portion when the right-eye image is displayed. The scanning display device comprises a light source(110), an optical modulator(120), a driving circuit(125), a scanner(130) and an image controller(150). The optical modulator outputs modulated light that the brightness of incident light from the light source is changed according to a driving signal. The driving circuit generates the driving signal corresponding to a received image control signal to output the generated driving signal. The scanner projects the modulated light on a position of a screen(140) corresponding to a received scanner control signal. The image controller receives image signals corresponding to the left-eye image and the right-eye image, converts the image signals into the image control signal, transmits the image control signal to the driving circuit, and transmits a light source control signal synchronized with the image control signal, a shutter control signal, and the scanner control signal to the light source, the shutter device and the scanner respectively.

A portable electronic device comprises a main control unit and a projection-type display unit. The projection-type display unit projects an optical signal corresponding to the video data display instruction to realize a 2D(Second-Dimensional) image. The projection-type display unit comprises a light source system(210), a one-dimensional light modulator(230), a scanner(250), and a video control unit(280). The light source system radiates successively light according to a light source control signal. The one-dimensional light modulator modulates the successively inputted light to generate a one-dimensional line image, an optical signal, when a light modulator control signal is inputted. The scanner scans the optical signal in bi-directions when a scanner control signal is inputted and projects the optical signal to realize the 2D image. The video control unit outputs individually the light source control signal, the light modulator control signal, and the scanner control signal corresponding to the video data display instruction to the light source system, the light modulator, and the scanner when the video data display instruction is inputted from the main control unit.

    • An image projection system and a method thereof are provided to form modulation device as 50x1024 on one die, thereby efficiently using the die. A light source(31) provides illumination light. An illumination optics(32) receives the illumination light, and simultaneously emits RGB(Red, Green and Blue) colors included in the illumination light to different areas. A spatial light modulator(33) is divided into the three areas receiving the RGB light from the illumination optics. Each of the three areas includes modulation devices of two rows or more. Each of the modulation devices modulates the light emitted from the illumination optics to be contributed to one pixel of a screen(36) once. A frame scanner(34) scans the modulated light on the screen to generate a two dimensional image corresponding to a first frame on the screen. A projection optics(35) project the modulated light transmitted from the frame scanner and focuses the light on the screen.
