    • PURPOSE: A method for testing system paths using a vocoder having bit patterns is provided to easily decide whether each system path of a control station is normal through a monitor by adding a programmable algorithm without changing a hardware, and by generating regular bits in the vocoder of the control station to examine errors of the system paths in the vocoder. CONSTITUTION: A method for testing a vocoder and system paths using bit patterns comprises the steps of: making a control station monitor set up an idle vocoder; making the control station monitor command a system loop back test to the vocoder through a central processing unit(CPU), or command a signal loop back process in a designated point for testing the paths; making the vocoder generate regular bit patterns in a serial interface part, and making signals of the bit patterns pass through an encoding path of the vocoder; making the bit patterns return from a determined specific position, and pass through a decoding path of the vocoder; detecting whether errors are generated on the basis a bit-by-bit result between signals of the returned bit patterns and the bit pattern signals; and displaying a looped-back path on the control station monitor, and displaying a result reported in the vocoder.
