    • A TPEG(Transport Protocol Experts Group) receiver in a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to allow the user to always obtain necessary traffic information by continuously receiving a TPEG service. A TPEG receiver in a portable terminal includes an antenna(100), a tuner unit(102), a decoding unit(104), a TPEG decoding unit(112), a data mixing processing unit(114), an external interface unit(106), a map data storing unit(116), an external interface(120), a GPS processor(118), and a control unit(122). The antenna receives a DMB signal. The tuner unit selects and filters a specific channel from the DMB signal. The decoding unit performing a channel decoding for the DMB signal, and performs audio decoding and data decoding. The TPEG decoding unit decodes only traffic information data among the decoded data from the decoding unit. The data mixing processing unit mixes and outputs the traffic information data form the TPEG decoding unit. The external interface unit transmits TPEG data from a second communication means. The control unit receives TPEG data from a corresponding terminal and controls to continuously receive a service when a service use stops. The GPS processor provides a current position value to indicate a current position on map data by corresponding to a control signal.

When IP/MAC platform reconfiguration generation time set up in the time field arrives, the DVB receiving terminal applies the recomposed IP/MAC platform information(440,450).

    • PURPOSE: A frequency tracking method of an interactive CATV receiver is provided to develop the interactive CATV receiver to perform a frequency tracking, so as to easily perform a tracking for a downstream band while having access to the Internet as watching a CATV. CONSTITUTION: A controller sets an optional frequency(S31). The controller performs an initialization by locking the set frequency, and decides whether a signal included in the locked frequency is capable of being demodulated(S32, S33). If not, the controller decides whether the locked frequency is bigger than a maximum frequency of a downstream band(S34). If so, the controller increases the frequency up to a valid frequency, and decides whether the signal included in the frequency is capable of being demodulated(S38, S39). If the locked frequency is not bigger than the maximum frequency, the controller decides whether the locked frequency is a frequency of a downstream-incapable band between the first and the second downstream bands. If so, the controller sets the frequency to a minimum frequency of the second downstream band, and if not, the controller increases the frequency(S35, S36, S37). If the signal included in the frequency is capable of being demodulated, the controller completes a tracking routine to perform a demodulating process(S40).
