    • PURPOSE: A proximity sensor and a rotation operation detector are provided to determine the proximity direction of an object from a detection level of a first detecting unit and a second detecting unit by including a proximity position determining unit. CONSTITUTION: A proximity sensor includes an electrode unit(A), first and second detecting units(21,22), and a proximity position determining unit(C). The electrode unit is comprised of a ground electrode, a first electrode, and a second electrode. The first and second electrodes are electrically connected to the first and second detecting units. The first detecting unit detects the proximity of the object by the change of the capacity of the first electrode. The second detecting unit detects the proximity of the object by the change of the capacity of the second electrode. The proximity position determining unit determines the proximity direction of the object based on the detecting level of the first and second detecting units.
