    • A method and a device for searching similar music using a music summary are provided to search the similar music in a DRM system by automatically extracting the music summary from a music file and classifying the music file into mood/genre based on the music summary. A music summary generator(110) generates the music summary by using an audio feature value extracted from a compressed area of the music file. The first feature extractor(120) extracts an MDCT(Modified Discrete Cosine Transformation)-based timbre/tempo feature from the music summary. A mood/genre classifier(140) classifies the music file into each mood/genre based on the timbre/tempo feature. The second feature extractor(130) extracts a similarity feature from the music summary. A music query input part(160) receives music query information. A music query detector(170) detects the mood/genre of the queried music. A searcher(180) measures similarity between the queried music and the music files with the same mood/genre by referring to a database(150), and searches the similar music according to the similarity.
