    • A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to enhance the stability of circuits by lowering a breakdown voltage supplied to a lamp switch. A plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel(100) and electrode drivers(300,400,500). The plasma display panel includes plural electrodes. The electrode drivers apply driving voltages to the plural electrodes. The electrode drivers include a first switch, a first diode, and a second switch. The first switch is connected between the electrodes and a first voltage source for supplying a sustain voltage which is applied to the electrodes during a sustain period. A cathode of the first diode is connected to the first source voltage. One end of the second switch is connected to an anode of the first diode and a voltage of a second end thereof is increased gradually to a first voltage lower than the sustain voltage during a part of a reset period.

    • A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to form sufficient wall charges on cells of the plasma display apparatus by using a voltage difference formed between scan and sustain electrodes during a setup period. A plasma display panel includes plural scan and sustain electrodes. Plural drivers(311a,311b) supply a driving voltage to respective scan electrodes. A first voltage source(Vsource) supplies a first voltage to the drivers during a reset period and the first voltage through drivers connected to scan electrodes, which not receive a scan pulse during an address period. A second voltage supplying unit(312) supplies a second voltage for generating a scan ramp pulse during the reset period through the drivers. A third voltage supplying unit(313) supplies a third voltage for the scan pulse through drivers connected to scan electrodes, which not receive the first voltage during the address period. A reference voltage supplying unit(317) supplies a reference voltage to the scan electrodes through the drivers.
