    • PURPOSE: A subtraction operation device for a Montgomery inverse algorithm and a method thereof are provided to perform a complementary operation and an add operation based on two variables, thereby comparing and operating sizes at the same time. CONSTITUTION: A comparison operation unit (110) compares the sizes of variable U and variable V. A subtraction operation unit (120) operates a difference value of the variable U and the variable V by performing an add operation with the complement of the bit values for the variable U and the variable V. The comparison operation unit compares the sizes of the variable U and the variable V by considering the most significant bit value of a reference value. When the most significant bit value is 1, the comparison operation unit determines that the variable U is bigger than the variable V.     • A method and a system for rapidly computing multiplicative inversion in a fast public-key crypto-system are provided to compute multiplicative inversion of a finite field by only using addition, subtraction and shifting operation to improve a computing speed. A system for computing multiplicative inverses includes a controller(201), first through sixth multiplexers(202a,202b,202c,202d,206a,206b), first, second, third and fourth registers(204a,204b,204c,204d), and a corrector(208). The controller determines whether an inputted variable is an odd number or an even number and selects addition or subtraction. The first, second, third and fourth multiplexers receive a prime of a finite field, a modular inverse and initial variables and output selected values under the control of the controller. The first, second, third and fourth registers are respectively connected to output ports of the first, second, third and fourth multiplexers, receive and store the prime, an input variable selected by the controller, 0 and 1 and perform a shifting operation on the received values. The fifth and sixth multiplexers select values stored in the first, second, third and fourth registers. The corrector performs addition and subtraction on the variables output from the fifth and sixth multiplexers.
