    • The invention relates to a process for the separation and recovery of non-ferrous metals from zinc-bearing residues, in particular from residues produced by the zinc manufacturing industry. The process allows for the valorisation of metal values in a Zn-, Fe- and Pb-bearing residue, and comprises the steps of: -subjecting the residue to a direct reduction step, thereby producing a metallic Fe-bearing phase and Zn- and Pb-bearing first fumes; - extracting the Zn- and Pb-bearing first fumes and valorising Zn and Pb; - subjecting the metallic Fe-bearing phase to an oxidising smelting step, thereby producing an Fe-bearing slag and second metals-bearing fumes; - extracting the second metals-bearing fumes and valorising at least part of their metallic content. The main advantage of this process is that an environmentally acceptable output for Fe is obtained.

    • PURPOSE: Method of recovering hydrochloric acid and zinc metal from electric arc furnace(EAF) dust is provided which is simple for recovering directly a hydrochloric acid and a zinc by electro-deposition and cost low by applying high current density at the membrane and low current density at the anode. CONSTITUTION: A method of recovering comprises the steps of: hot acid leaching which makes zinc ferrite leached in a solution having a hydrochloric acid with concentration of about 37g/l to 74g/l and a ZnCl2 with concentration of about 104g/l-270g/l at 80°C or more; purifying an iron, an organic matter and a heavy metal which is dissolved in the zincchloride solution by reacting at the leaching step; recovering a zinc by electro-depositing the purified zincchloride solution in an electro-deposition cell equipped cation exchange membrane being anode current density of 300-1000A/m2 and membrane current density of 750-2000A/m2 at not more than 40°C.
