    • A method for preparing a polyarylate from a dihydric phenol compound and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid is provided to increase the yield of the polyarylate while reducing the total amount of a nonionic surfactant and a cationic phase transition catalyst. A method for preparing a polyarylate from a dihydric phenol compound and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid via an interfacial polymerization process comprises a step of adding a mixture of a nonionic surfactant and a cationic phase transition catalyst to a reactor. The nonionic surfactant is added in an amount of 1-10,000 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the cationic phase transition catalyst. The nonionic surfactant and the cationic phase transition catalyst are added in a combined weight of 0.0001-10 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the dihydric phenol compound.
