    • PURPOSE: Provided is a method for drawing an optical fiber, by which optical fiber is drawn stably in a gas seal manner, while varying the outer diameter of the optical fiber preform. CONSTITUTION: The method for drawing an optical fiber comprises the steps of: supplying an optical fiber preform(30) to a drawing furnace(20), while controlling the inner diameter of a seal ring(14U) disposed at the top of the drawing furnace(20); introducing a gas into the drawing furnace(20) so as to spray the gas to the optical fiber preform(30) in the drawing furnace(20), thereby forming a flow running to the outside of the drawing furnace(20) from the gap of the optical fiber preform(30); and heating the front-end part of the optical fiber preform(30) to soften it, and thus to draw the optical fiber.
