    • A silica nanopowder with a silver-coated layer thereon and its preparing method and a cosmetic composition comprising the same are provided to show excellent antibacterial activity in its small quantity. A method for preparing a silica nanopowder with a silver-coated layer thereon comprises the following steps of: reacting silicon alkoxide in an alcohol solvent at 35°C - 38°C for 6-7 hours in the presence of a catalyst in order to form silica particles with average diameter of 75nm - 150nm; and mixing the silica particles with silver precursors in the alcohol solvent and adding a reducing agent so that the silver precursors is reduced and the silica particles are coated with silver. The catalyst is one selected from the group consisting of ammonia water, ammonium hydrogen carbonate and triethanolamine.

    • A method for producing silicon oxide powder is provided to produce a silicon oxide powder efficiently at a low cost. A method for producing silicon oxide powder comprises: heating a raw material powder mixture of a silicon dioxide powder and a metal silicon powder to a temperature of 1,100 to 1,450 deg.C in an inert gas or under reduced pressure to generate silicon monoxide gas; and precipitating the silicon monoxide gas on a surface of a substrate, wherein the silicon dioxide powder has an average particle diameter of 1 mum or less, and the metal silicon powder has an average particle diameter of 30 mum or less. A molar ratio of metal silicon powder and silicon dioxide powder is more than 1 and less than 1.1. The reaction of the raw material powder mixture of the silicon dioxide powder and the metal silicon powder is performed at a temperature range of 1,300 to 1,420 deg.C under a reduced pressure of 100 Pa or less.
