    • A dew sensor having a structure independent of the wavelength of a detection light, wherein a miniaturized and low-priced light-emitting device can be used and the sensor itself is miniaturized by reducing the heat capacity and amount of heat generated. A light from a light-emitting device is introduced into a transparent plate, and the light traveling in the transparent plate by repeating a total reflection is sensed by a light-receiving. The degree of dew produced on a surface of the transparent plate is sensed according to a change in the amount of sensed light. The transparent plate is a sandwich glass (14) formed by bonding two glass plates (10a, 10b) with an intermediate film (12) therebetween. A reflection film (24), which is parallel to surfaces of the glass plates, is formed in a portion of the intermediate film, and a turn reflection micro-mirror array (26) which is composed of a plurality of reflection faces inclined to the surfaces of the glass plates and arranged at intervals is provided near an end of the reflection film. A light-emitting device (20) and a light-receiving device (22) are arranged side by side outside the sandwich glass near the other end of the reflection film.

    • PURPOSE: A window capacitive moisture sensor is provided to sense condensed moisture on the inside of automotive windows with essentially no sensitivity to precipitation on the outside of the window CONSTITUTION: A capacitive moisture sensor include at least a coule of electrodes(12,13) coating on windows and an electric circuit for essentially ignore a resistance element of impedance. The moisture sensor is based on sensing the influence of the moisture on the impedance (mainly capacitive) between two electrodes(12,13). It is intended especially for rear windows (10) where the sensing electrodes(12, 13) can be integrated with the resistive heater network (20) printed on the internal side and activate it automatically. Similarly it can be used for front windows(10) where it can automate the operation of electrical or hot air defoggers.

    • A moisture detector can include a first elongated conductor (100) disposed on a substrate (104). The first conductor (100) can define a zigzag path between the opposite ends thereof. A temperature sensor (122) can be utilized to correct the response of the moisture detector for temperature.
