    • PURPOSE: An optic incorporating a power gradient is provided to remove the undesired astingmatism graduatelly. CONSTITUTION: A progressive optic (10) has an optical preform (30) wherein the radiusofcurvature of the surface is altered by forming discrete spherical portions(20) across the surface. A thin intermediate layer (40), having a different refractive index from the optical preform (30), is then cast over the formed optical preform surface. The optical preform (30) having the thin intermediate layer (40) is then cast with a resin superstrate layer (60) which restores the curve of the optic (10). Each spherical section (50), defined by spherical portions (20) and corresponding portions of outer surface of the superstrate layer (60), alters the spherical power of the adjacent spherical section (50) by about.03D to.05D.

    • PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for preparing such an object of which property changes radially as an optical fiber of low intensity loss of a light signal by compacting structure and to control the change of radial refractive index by using mechanical and physical mixing method. CONSTITUTION: A reactor for preparing an object of which property is changed radially comprises an outer case(1) of which section whereon a material is placed is cylindrical or geometrical, an inner case(2) wherein another material having a property different from that of the material in the outer case is placed, a cylindrical agitator(3) for radially mixing the two materials, and a bottom sealing member(4) sealing the bottom faces of the outer case and the inner case. An inner material is filled inside the inner case, and an outer material having property different from that of the inner material is filled in the space between the inner case and the outer case. Thereafter, the inner case is removed and the agitator is rotated for laminar-mixing of the two materials. Therefore, an object of which property changes radially depending on a specific profile is obtained.
