    • PURPOSE: An environmentally-friendly rock crushing apparatus for urban areas and a rock crushing method using the same are provided to reduce noise, vibration, and dust when crushing rock. CONSTITUTION: An environmentally-friendly rock crushing apparatus for urban areas comprises a lead(11), a head unit(15), an air hammer(20), a vibration damping unit(30), a noise isolating unit, a dust collecting unit, and a rock splitter(60). The lead has a joint coupled with the boom(1) of an excavator and is supported by the excavator. The head unit is raised and lowered along the lead by a driving unit. The air hammer comprises a bit(22) that is connected through a rod(21) to drill rock. The vibration damping unit is installed between the air hammer and the rod or in the middle of the rod in order to prevent the transmission of noise caused by vibration that is generated in drilling of the air hammer and transmitted to the excavator and the boom through the rod. The noise isolating unit and the dust collecting unit are respectively installed in the rod and the lead in order to prevent the spreading of noise and dust that are produced in drilling of the air hammer. The rock splitter is operated with hydraulic oil provided from the hydraulic pump of the excavator in order to crush rock.

The coupling unit comprises a support housing, a chisel clamp which presses the exterior of the chisel, and a hydraulic cylinder which moves a clamping member back and forth.
