CONSTITUTION: A semi-automatic drilling device(100) for a road is composed of column-shaped vertical supports(120), a plate-shaped base(110), drill moving units(130), and a drill fixing unit(140). The vertical supports are formed in both side surfaces of the base. Wheels(111) and a drill fixing hole(142) are formed in the base. The drill moving units are formed between the vertical supports, and are ascended and descended. The drill fixing unit is connected to the drill moving units.

The spindle is supported on a spherical air bearing about its center of gravity. The spindle is adjustable in pitch and yaw directions through the influence of X-Y actuators. The X-Y actuation system is preferably electromagnetic and provides a non-contact method of displacing the spindle shaft in a controlled manner at any speed.

A hole drilling tool is used to form first and second holes in a workpiece. The hole drilling tool comprises a guide bar(31), which is inserted into the first hole and moves along the first hole when the second hole is formed, and a drill(36) that is rotated about a central axis of the second hole. The drill moves lengthwise along the workpiece while being guided by the guide bar. Cutters(37) are provided at one end portion of the drill to form the second hole.
