    • PURPOSE: A method for EtBr removal and detoxification using nano-porous silica is provided to remove EtBr and counteract the poisonous effects of EtBr effectively in a short time by only adding mixture of nanoporous silica particle and additional hydrochloric acid without adding additional large amount of detoxification chemicals or complicated process like filter formation through packaging. CONSTITUTION: The method for EtBr removal and detoxification using nano-porous silica includes the steps of: mixing the nanoporous silica particle with the EtBr solution. The pore size of the nanoporous silica particle is 5 ~ 10 nm; adsorbing the EtBr within the EtBr solution in the nanoporous silica particle; metamorphosing the chemical structure of EtBr by reacting the EtBr adsorbed in the nanoporous silica particle with acid. The acid reacting to the adsorped EtBr is hydrochloric acid.
