    • A gold nanoparticle-containing CT(computed tomography) contrast agent is provided to reduce the amount of use, increase the imaging time by inducing slow release due to its high molecular weight, and show contrast ability within a short time, so that the CT contrast agent is useful for diagnosis of liver cancer. A CT contrast agent contains gold nanoparticles of which surfaces are coated with a biocompatible polymer selected from polyvinylpyrrolidone, chitosan and hyaluronic acid, has 5-50 HU(hounsfield unit) value, preferably 20-30 HU value in vitro based on 1 mg/ml, and specificity to liver or spleen, and is accumulated in not the liver cancer tissue but the normal liver tissue, wherein the gold nanoparticle has the particle size of 1-500 nm; and the CT contrast agent shows at least two times higher HU value in the liver cancer tissue than that in the normal liver tissue after 10-90 minutes of in vivo administration.
