    • PURPOSE: A heat transfer composition is provided to satisfy all of the other stringent requirements of such systems for the materials used as the heat transfer material, and not to deplete the ozone layer and cause unwanted levels of global worming. CONSTITUTION: A heat transfer composition comprises: (a) a first component comprising difluoromethane; (b) a second component selected from C2-C5 multifluorinated olefins; (c) and optionally at least one third component selected from C2-C3 fluorinated alkanes, CF3I, and combinations thereof. A method of selecting a composition for use in an existing heat transfer system, the method comprises: (a) analyzing the existing heat transfer system in a manner sufficient to permit approximation of the capacity of the fluid used in the existing heat transfer system; and (b) approximating the capacity of two or more heat transfer compositions. The two or more compositions comprises: (i) a first component comprising difluoromethane; (ii) a second component selected from group consisting of C2-C5 multifluorinated olefins; (iii) and optionally at least one third component selected from the group consisting of C2-C3 fluorinated alkanes, CF3I, and combinations of these; and (c) selecting at least one of said two or more of heat transfer compositions for use in the existing heat transfer system.
