    • A catalyst for selective oxidative desulfurization and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to extend a lifetime of the catalyst and to maximize selective oxidation desulphurization capacity about the petroleum hydrocarbon having high sulfide content. A catalyst for selective oxidative desulfurization includes 0.5 ~ 10 weight part of a transition metal dipped in a mesopore silica molecule having 2 ~ 10 nm of pore size, 14 ~ 20 Å of wall thickness, 0.1 ~ 1.0 mum of particle size, and 500 ~ 1400 m^2/g of specific surfacearea. The surface of the catalyst for selective oxidative desulfurization is sylilated by a silylating agent of 0.05 ~ 1.0 molar ratio based on a molar ratio of a silica molecule. The silylating agent is a silane compound selected among C1-20 alkyl silane, C1-20 alkylsilazane, and C1-20 alkoxy silane. The transition metal is a single transition metal or the transition metals more than 2 kinds selected from 4B, 5B, 6B, 7B and 8B family.
