摘要： The thin wall iron tube, of wall thickness below 5mm., and thickness/ diameter ratio less than 10%, is continuously cast through a vertical die. The head of the die is fitted into the casting orifice in the base of the ladle with a heated core suspended in it to form an annular mould. The die, below the shell of the ladle, is a thickwalled graphite tube, surrounded by a cooling jacket. The head is a composite, comprising a truncated conical lip, one third the thickness of the main tube, and surrounded by a thermally and melt iron insulating ceramic ring, level with the exposed top edge, and filling the space between the core and the die wall.
