    • PURPOSE: A novel flake-shaped food for aquatic animals and its preparation method are provided, which flake-shaped food has uniform shape and size, improved mechanical strength, hardness and smoothness, and various color. CONSTITUTION: A flake-shaped food is characterized as water content of 1-30 %, preferably 4-25 %, uniform shape, and various thickness. Preferably the thickness is 10 micrometers to 5 mm, more preferably 80-140 micrometers. The flake contains temperature-sensitive material such as an aromatics, a coloring agent, enzymes, a promoting agent (an agent for promoting growth or oviposition), probiotics, vitamins and/or a color strengthening agent. The probiotics are bacteria or yeast. The flake-shaped food is prepared by preparing the shaped body with suitable size at 60-150°C; and rolling out the shaped body.
