    • A system and a method for remotely diagnosing partial discharge of an electric appliance by using frequency and phase spectra are provided to simplify construction of the system for monitoring internal and external broadband sensors by controlling a plurality of frequency analysis devices and electronic switches and processing a signal through one digital signal processing device. A plurality of internal broadband sensors(110) are attached to an inspection window of a metal vessel of a gas insulated device(100) and detects a partial discharged state of the gas insulated device to output a corresponding detection signal. A plurality of external broadband sensors(120) are attached to a spacer, a nonmetal exposed region of the gas insulated device, and detects the partial discharged state of the gas insulated device to output a corresponding detection signal. An electronic switch(210) selects an arbitrary sensor through the control of a digital signal processing device(230), receives the partial discharge detection signal inputted from the selected arbitrary sensor, and outputs the detection signal to a frequency spectrum analyzer(220) by being connected with the internal and external sensors through a coaxial cable(130). The frequency spectrum analyzer performs frequency analysis for the partial discharge detection signal inputted from the electronic switch. The digital signal processing device determines whether partial discharge is generated through frequency and phase analysis by receiving a frequency analysis signal from the frequency spectrum analyzer and transmits an alarm signal and frequency and phase analysis data to a main unit(310) in real time whenever the partial discharge is generated. The main unit diagnoses the causes and generation position of the partial discharge and transmits diagnosis results and data to a monitoring computer(410) at a remote place(400).

A switching unit(30) comprises anti-parallel diodes preventing breakage generated by high voltage and high load, in receiving a partial discharge sensor signal of 0.5-1.5GHz from the sensor and a digital signal control unit. In the digital signal control unit, a buffer buffers the sensor signal and provides the buffered sensor signal. A digital controller receives a signal output from the buffer and transmits the sensor signal to a digital signal conversion unit at the intervals of sweep time by using a 4-bit control signal if a partial discharge signal is detected, and informs the position of the sensor. And, the digital controller transmits the sensor signal to a spectrum analyzer. The spectrum analyzer(32) analyzes the sensor signal supplied from the switching unit. The digital signal conversion unit converts the RF(Radio Frequency) type sensor signal supplied from the switching unit, into a digital signal.
